Yoko Iritani “Reminiscent Honeymoon”
LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
This event has ended.
Yoko Iritani’s colored pencil drawings represent themes of “the home” and “tools” of the Taisho and Showa eras. Her invigoratingly modern works feature tropical colors and a vibrant flatness, depicting scenes such as a wooden house with a veranda, a garden with a stone lantern, and interiors designs blending Japanese and western styles. The colors of her drawings are impressionistic, resembling oil paintings in their rich layering yet still retaining a certain transparency. Ten of Iritani’s works, including new drawings of the three-generational home where her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother live, are on display. Iritani will be featured at the 2014 Voca Prize Exhibition.
