Edvard Munch
Print production was a major element of Munch’s impressive oeuvre and after making his first print in 1894, Munch continued over the remaining fifty years of his life to produce approximately 850 print pieces.
This exhibition displays 34 prints from the NMWA collection, featuring early period works on the typical Munch themes of life, death and romantic love, such as The Sick Girl (1894), Madonna (1895) and Harpye (1899), along with his lithograph series Alpha and Omega (1908–09), and Toward the Light (1914) which revealed new developments in his work.
