With figurative images of people Satomi Otsuka renders the color filled world in the black and white of charcoal, drawing out something perhaps overlooked in our everyday vision. In contrast motifs of fish gush with beautiful color, while each of them maintains an expressionless face, untouched by their own brightness, perhaps a condition which may we may find widely in the world around us. A world in which we are filled with thoughts, ideas and opinions, yet still for some reason hold fast together within our own comfort zone. The world of fish and humans.
