Open Space 2013 introduces works of media art and other forms of artistic expression born out of today’s media environments to a broad audience. Sort of a beginner’s guide to media art, the exhibition features leading works from the realm of media art, artworks incorporating cutting-edge technologies, works with a critical standpoint, and projects that are currently in progress at various research institutions. All of them are displayed along with explanatory notes to help visitors better understand the works. The aim of the exhibition is to not only allow viewers to enjoy the works, but also encourage them to think about the contemporary state of diversified media and communications, societal problems, future possibilities, and new perceptions and aesthetics.
