Within skateboarding techniques there are moves known as front side tricks and backside tricks. If the front side is like popular culture the backside can be classed as underground. Joji Shimamoto is a photographer who seeks out through the lens the layers of street culture which can not be seen on the surface, allowing insight to that which lies beyond the spotlight, the presence of which one might say is tied to reality on a more concrete level. #BS_archives offers up an archive of this underground world.
