From The Terada Collection 046 “The Sacred and the Profane”

Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery
Finished
The contrast between sacred and profane constitutes one of the key definitions and oppositions at the foundations of our human existence, but the two are often reversed, and are actually so strongly joined as to be virtually inseparable. This exhibition draws on a variety of works in the collection to investigate the images used by artists to represent the sacred and the profane.
