In the work of Naomi Okubo decorative patterns are drawn as symbols of our eternal yearning, incorporating semiotic meanings associated with fashion to build up images of multiple layers, and while many of the characters which appear in these scenes may refer to Okubo herself they are simultaneously a shadow of the viewer.
