The Beautiful Black List – Tracing the 50 Years of D&AD Awards

The Ad Museum Tokyo
Finished
The England-based NPO D&AD founded the D&AD Awards in 1963. Considered the most selective design and advertising awards in the world, the competition is symbolized by the “yellow pencil.” However, the top honor of the “black pencil” goes only to creators who surprise, provoke debate, and usher in new eras of design. The Advertising Museum Tokyo has been showcasing works receiving the D&AD Awards since 2007. It now offers a retrospective of the awards’ 50-year history, presenting all the black pencil winners and a selection of works chosen by D&AD’s 50 presidents, along with winners of the 2013 awards.
