“Kawasaki: A City That Leads Japan”

Kawasaki City Museum
Finished
With its large concentration of factories, the Kawasaki region has served as the center of the Keihin Manufacturing Belt since the Rinkai land reclamation in the Taisho era. It’s a place where people and things from around the country converge, and the development of its railway and road infrastructure played a crucial role in Kawasaki becoming a city that drove Japan’s rapid economic growth. Today it remains a place where historical landmarks and cutting-edge technology exist, continuing to transform itself as an advanced green city that has addressed environmental pollution issues. This exhibition takes a look back at the process of Kawasaki’s emergence as an industrial city and explores how the region continues to change. It also introduces ideas for shaping Kawasaki’s future presented by children and students living in the region.
