This event has ended.

Tsuguharu Fujita, the popular member of the Paris school, had a particular connection with many pioneering Japanese artists. For example it was through Fujita’s harsh words that Jirou Yoshihara was inspired to found the Gutai movement, while he also moved in the circles of the European abstract painting “Art informel”, as well as presenting an exhibition in London with Sugai Kumi as the stars of the Paris school.
Here in 2013 the Museum of Contemporary Art, Karuizawa follows Fujita’s legacy revealed through the work of artists associated with Gutai and abstract art.
