Keisuke Koizumi
Drawing born from the encounter of pen and paper. Life born from the encounter between man and woman. Keisuke Koizumi claims there is little distinction between the two. Just as canvas is made from the wood of trees, it also used to support and protect the branches of trees in a mutual relationship. A pencil is taken and gives life to a new form. For Koizumi the act of drawing upon paper or canvas and hanging the resulting picture on the wall is not one of universalism but singular act, a singular encounter. His mixture of hard and soft images are metaphors of man and woman, which may even be read as sexual organs. But his drawings are not to be restricted to merely polarized symbols, instead they are caught in an overlaying of color and form which reaches beyond the two dimensional and perhaps reflects the complexity of sexual love today.
