Through a variety of techniques using materials including oil paint, acrylics, enamel, and urethane plastic, Ai Okawara projects a world of truths brimming with tragic ironies onto the human form. For “I have no way to change the world,” her third exhibition at the gallery, Okawara has painted faces for the first time, expressing a strong attachment to life or perhaps the universal love conveyed in the artist’s strong sense of purpose. Around 30 works including oil paintings, drawings, and new collages of images made with transposed photographs are on display.
