The Tokyo School of Art (TSA) is the realization of the unique educational philosophy of Yoshishige Saito, a vanguard figure in Japanese contemporary art who passed away in 2001. “Expressing the Present” is a group exhibition that has been held annually since 1998 by graduates of the school. The 13th exhibition presents meditations on the theme “what is important to the zeroist,” with “anti-globalism” underlying sentiment. “Zeroism” refers to Saito’s 1950 work and the act of expressing something starting from nothing.
