Mitsuaki Iwago
Taking the world as his stage the wildlife photographer Mitsuaki Iwago, while traversing the outer reaches of the globe capturing all forms of wild animals set within their natural landscape, also continues to photograph our familiar feline and canine friends. Amongst his repertoire we find that a particular dedication has been paid to the images of cats and lions. Iwago comments that “A cat is just a small lion. A lion is just a big cat.” The familiar cat which we live close at hand to, is contrasted with the wild roaming hunter, the lion, and while being of the same cat family, their differences are starkly noticeable. And yet there is something shared between them.
This exhibition presents a range of 180 photographs which take our coexisting cats together with the nature bound lions and highlights their points of similarity and contrast.
