Within contemporary art the “delicate” style has come to form a genre in its own right. The minute finely crafted worlds created by such artists are at times dream-like, at other times coolly stylish and most often unique. Throughout the scroll art of the Heian period to the fine detail of Ukiyo-e, delicacy has played an important role throughout the history of Japanese art and here in this exhibition contemporary artists reveal such a world through a vast array of perspectives, from the geometric to the organic, grasping upon a dense and dynamic reality.
