The work of Kiyoshi Suzuki(1943–2000)in a solo exhibition of 24 selected vintage prints from his first book Soul and Soul (1972) and Street Shuffle (1988), which received the first Society of Photography Award. Brought into the limelight by one of Netherland’s most important contemporary photographers, Machiel Botman, Suzuki’s work gained acclaim exhibitions such as ‘Kiyoshi Suzuki: Soul and Soul 1969–1999,’ (Nooderlicht Photogallery,Groningen, Netherlands / Deichtor Hallen, Hamburg, Germany, 2008/ 2009) and his first large-scale retrospective‘Kiyoshi Suzuki: Hundred Steps and Thousand Stories’ held at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in 2010.
In conjunction with this exhibition, Taka Ishii Gallery Photography/Film will publish Soul and Soul, Street Shuffle、opening up an elaborate and multilayered world woven from dreams, journeys, and literature.
