“Poem and Death - Paintings by 3 artists”

Gallery Out of Place Tokio
Finished

Artists

Koutaro Inoue, Nahoko Tokuda, Keisuke Hayashi
An exhibition of 3 artists who share, even if unconsciously, a depiction of the “other world”, a world of houses engulfed in darkness, gazing figures with no face, animals with no eyes or mouth, creatures who only make their presence felt and girls who continue to sing whilst holding a cut throat, figures not of this world but of the next, or else figures who are able to move freely between the two.

Death is a word of particular strength, the moment it is uttered or written it sucks the air and creates a painful tension. The power found within a singular word must surely be the power of poetry, and the artists here try to recall this through their painting, pursuing the poetry of death.
