Artists

Yuki Hashimoto
In his project "Wickets of the World", the artist united the world of social network service and one of the most ancient of human technologies. Hashimoto collected thumbnail portraits of people he was introduced to via SNS, people he seems to know but actually does not. The artist regarded their faces like virtual images and then he put them into ceramic form, attempting to connect a substance with a mirage. The artist indicates an essence of communication between human existing inside of us. In addition, using fire to make ceramics recollects the origin of the birth of human beings.

Hashimoto will also show his newest series of sculptures. Used cellular phones which have decomposed and then been reconstructed will be hung on a wall like an altar to the dead. The owner's portrait was summoned by a method of Joseph Rodes Buchanan (American, 1814-1899), a shadow of our temporary society which pursues advanced networks and mobility. The work exists like an urban myth which hides the dubiousness of the occult.
