Artists

Harumichi Saito
Watari-um presents the first major exhibition of the 30 year old artist Harumichi Saito, who began working in photography in 2008, going on to win a New Cosmos of Photography award in 2010 and furthering his particular approach to his practice in the wake of 3.11. Here Saito features 160 photographic prints alongside 200 projected images, featuring people with illness and disability as well as those from the gay and lesbian community in a reflection upon those deemed as minorities by society. In an age when we increasingly face greater hardship Saito finds a way to touch our senses and express his vision of a golden world. Here his impressive collection of photography reaches beyond the bounds of art, beyond the definitions of time and space to offer the audience strength though the very act of viewing.
