Artists

Akira Yamaguchi
Working in genres including ukiyoe, Japanese Yamato painting, western art, and manga, the contemporary artist Akira Yamaguchi re-imagines the ancient and modern motifs of eastern and western cultures. His finely detailed drawings are humorous but also sharply examine the contradictions and issues of present-day Japanese society and art. This exhibition displays his drawings, oil paintings, sculptures, illustrations, and other works. The venue also presents Yamaguchiya Oriennale 2013, the fourth solo “international festival” of Yamaguchi’s off-hand art.
