COBRA
From his early works COBRA has taken fiction as his central theme, coming to perform clownish characters in his own video work. Well known works include “The Kiss” capturing a romantic moment between two lovers, both played by COBRA himself, as well as videos capturing haunted model show rooms and phantom cats. While his recent film last year took the motif of the Hollywood disaster movie “Armageddon”, in which he played all 4 main characters, as well as taking the roles of scriptwriter, producer and director. Here COBRA takes the CG heavy film of the world’s end and recreates it in his DIY fashion with farcical results. Through his works COBRA pursues wit, falsehood and foolery, in a practice which even extends to his own personality, the creation of which itself constitutes an art work. In this exhibition he presents a range of videos in an installation focusing upon the weather.
