Ken Domon
Ken Domon, one of Japan’s leading photographers, and eyewitness to the Showa period. He made his name as a photo journalist, while making his life work to photograph the Buddhist statues and temples of Japan’s traditional culture. As part of the events deebrating 30 years since the establishment of the “Ken Domon Museum of Photography” in his home town Sakata city, Yamagata and exhibition has been gathered to present around 200 of his works focusing on children of that area. Domon was naturally fond on children and captured their strength and smiles in the turbulent years following the war, with scenes from Chikuho, Hiroshima and Tokyo’s downtown, capturing the precious lives of the children who lived there.
