LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished
The are 10,000 species of seaweed in the world, 1,500 of which grow in the oceans of Japan. Edible varieties consumed since ancient times such as konbu, wakame, and nori are well-known, but other kinds are surprisingly unfamiliar to most people. This exhibition focuses on seaweed and other ocean plants, presenting around 320 items showcasing the diversity, beauty, and wonder of several seaweed specimens, as well as Meji-era botanical drawings and photographs, and other valuable documents.
