Shoji Ueda
The photos in Ueda’s “Illusion” series (1987–1992) were developed on color positive film, as were those in his preceding series, “Mode in Dunes” (1983–1990). However, the “Illusion” photos were produced through double exposure using a Pentax 645 camera, and differ considerably from his signature style. They prompted many fans to wonder aloud if they were really Ueda’s works during their first exhibitions.
