Artists

Yukio Tsuchiya
Introducing the work of Yukio Tsuchiya, an artist and designer with deep ties to Meguro Ward who lived for a while near Gakugeidaigaku Station. Tsuchiya produced many works as a pioneering artist in the pre-war period. After WWII, he headed the Institute of Esthetic Research while teaching at Musashino Art University, working to cultivate the talent of students and young artists by providing a place for them to express themselves. Looking back on the trajectory of his unique creative career, this exhibition focuses on Tsuchiya’s works from the late 1960s donated to the museum in 2010. Visitors can also see some of his many commercial designs, including press releases, advertisements, package labels, and products.
