Mitsuo Kano “And The Coming Waves And the Color of the Sea”

Artists

Mitsuo Kano
This exhibition coincides with “Rupa— Crest of the Wave Still Unseen 2013” at the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama, which also showcases the works of Mitsuo Kano. “The Coming of the Waves and the Color of the Sea” is the Kano’s first solo show at the gallery in two years. Over the past several years Kano has been producing dynamic paintings featuring colorful floodwaters combined with bird-shaped and elliptical forms. Since his last exhibition, however, his images have shifted to soft colors used in silhouettes of his own hands and the leaves of trees in his garden. While continuously progressing, Kano remains focused on the Rupa, or “color” philosophy of painting, moving viewers with fresh observations throughout the years.
