Artists

Katsura Funakoshi
Katsura Funakoshi has been creating sculptures capturing deep and complicated states of mind since the 1980s. For Funakoshi, prints are no different from sculpture, and since first presenting his small engravings in 1987, he has continued to create works using different techniques each time. He used the mezzotint method of printing for the new works in this exhibition, about which Funakoshi says, "it was the closest thing to making sculptures of all the prints I have ever made.” The theme "double image" explores nature, dreams, imagination, and other concepts important to people.
