Finished

Artists

Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, Mel Ramos, James Rosenquist
The impact of internationally recognized art collectors John and Kimiko Powers upon the art world has been quite a phenomenon, especially in their patronage and acquisition of American Pop Art from its early stages in the 1960s, realizing the potential of this movement before it was more widely acknowledged and coming to develop what is today considered one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive private collections of Pop Art. Drawing on this collection which encompasses the foremost icons of American Pop Art including, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselmann, and their precursors Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, this exhibition attempts to further the appreciation of Pop Art in Japan, with a stunning array of work from the 1960s including the first exhibition of Andy Warhol’s “200 Campbell’s Soup Cans” in Japan.
