“My Old Rivers and Mountains Home” is an exhibition series presenting works selected with collector Kotaro Terada, who has donated art to the museum. The founding principle of the Terada Collection is a multifaceted exploration of what makes a work “Japanese.” The fifth show in this series takes “the forms of water” as its theme, introducing Nihonga paintings featuring the many states of water, from snowscapes to water-filled paddies to rivers, waterfalls, oceans, mist, and clouds.
