Ingrid Weber
Born in Obermaubach/Eifel, Germany in 1961 and now residing in Duesseldorf, Ingrid Weber has consistently pursued a practice of monochrome painting, constructed with a single color or a limited number of different pigments. Before painting, she carefully combines these colors. By changing the proportion of each to the mix, Weber creates new colors that have slightly different “color-values” (variations in lightness, dark, and grey). She then chooses among these color-value pigments and paints them on canvas. On this occasion, paintings with the pigment ”Terra Verde” are the main pieces on view. This pigment made primarily of minerals and has been used since antiquity. Green neutralizes their flesh-toned pinks and reds. In addition to paintings on canvas, new works on wooden panels made with pigment, tempera, and lacquer are on display.
