Treasures of Daigo Temple

The Shoto Museum of Art
Finished
Kyoto’s Daigo Temple, a World Heritage Site, was founded in the Heian era. As one of the most important temples of Mikkyo esoteric Buddhism, it has made enormous contributions to traditional Japanese culture through its arts and crafts, which include some 200,000 works of Buddhist sculpture, painting, sutras, and folding screen paintings. Showcasing some of Daigo Temple’s finest works such as the National Treasure Nara period picture scroll “Kako Genzai Ingakyo Sutra,” as well as modern works, this exhibition introduces the wonders of this great temple.
