Azamino Photo Annual “Boundaries of Photography”

Yokohama Civic Gallery, Azamino
Finished

Artists

Yuki Tawada, Maiko Haruki, Kazuo Yoshida
This exhibition explores the current state of contemporary photography with works by artists using original approaches to push the boundaries of photographic expression and revolutionize how we see things. Yuki Tawada creates visual representations of the latent madness in cities and groups by erasing and scraping the surfaces of photographs with erasers and sharp metal objects. Maiko Haruki opens up new worlds of image composition with bold framing and enhanced black and white balances. Kazuo Yoshida begins by questioning the origins of photography, creating studies in light with digital and analog techniques. The works of these three photographers break new ground by focusing not only on their subjects, but the process of capturing images through omissions and deletions.
