Hiroyuki Takei
School girls in uniform are a popular motif in photography. However, by doing away with excessive flashiness, Hiroyuki Takei reveals the girls’ confusion, strife, and bewilderment— “cries of the heart” felt by everyone during adolescence. These photographs draw in the viewer with the beauty of their combustive moments of fantasy, darkness, innocent eroticism, and complex energies. Works with similar themes made in collaboration with the ceramicist Masako Niimi are also displayed.
