Yutaka Aoki, Tomoko Atsuchi, Shunsuke Imai, Tadasuke Iwanaga, Koichi Enomoto, Satoshi Ohno et al.
How often over the course of the 20th century has painting been declared dead? And yet each time the genre has made a solid comeback. With the range of methods and materials available to contemporary artists only continuing to expand, it seems far more likely that painting, as a form of expression, will keep on evolving. Indeed, even the past decade has seen the emergence of promising fresh talent every year. Exploring the state of the art and where it is headed, this exhibition gathers the works of 24 exciting new artists from the year 2000 onwards, suggesting that painting is, if anything, timeless.
