The 3/11 disaster created a group of people known as “disaster victims,” and their cats and dogs became “disaster-area pets.” With daily broadcasts about the nuclear accident, what could these pet owners do? Could they escape with their animals? Wondering these questions, photographer Keiko Nagatomi traveled to evacuation centers for the first time to meet the people of Fukushima who fled with their pets.
