The Story of Tiles

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished
The story of tiles spans the history of human civilization, from the temples of Mesopotamia to the pyramids of Egypt and now in recent time such decorative features which were once reserved for places of sanctity have now entered our everyday homes with both functional and visually expressive qualities. Across numerous countries and cultures the tile became a form of media in which to embody long lasting messages within daily life, from religious and moral teachings, to stories and traditions. This exhibition examines the narrative of tiles through a collection of 70 selected pieces offering new insights into different cultures and eras.
