Popular among antique lovers, mikawachi ceramics were exported and won fans in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries for their outstanding craftsmanship. They fell out of favor during Japan’s period of rapid economic growth, but are recently being rediscovered by young pottery collectors who are reviving this 400-year-old craft.
