This two-part exhibition introduces the charms of Japanese art with eighty-three masterpieces selected from the museum’s collection. Included are illustrated narrative scrolls of the Kamakura period, Muromachi-period ink and colored screens, the Momoyama-period works of Tohaku Hasegawa, early genre paintings, Edo-period ukiyo-e beauty paintings, and the works of Rimpa artists such as Hoitsu Sakai. The museum hopes visitors will enjoy the beauty of the exhibited works.
