Artists

Momoko Sakura
Sakura Momoko, creator of “Chibi Maruko-chan,” debuted as a manga artist 30 years ago. Over the course of her career she produced several series besides “Maruko-chan” such as “Coji-Coji,” as well as essays, song lyrics, plays, and translations. This exhibition takes a look back on her 30 years of creativity with 130 original illustrations. Among the displayed works are her vivid, fresh, and mysteriously powerful “Color Illustrations,” handwritten manuscripts for essays, and 20 years of drawings and other works for “Chibi Maruko-chan” from 1990 onward.
