Ikko Narahara
Ikko Narahara (b. 1931) is one of the leading photographers of postwar Japan. First published in 1958, his “Domains” focused on human beings in a monastery in Hokkaido and a female prison in Wakayama Prefecture, both isolated from the external world. Presenting 87 prints donated by Nikon Corporation in 2011, this exhibition introduces the important work from Narahara’s early career that established the photographer’s reputation.
