The ceramic work of Nagasaki “Mikawachiyaki” first developed in the early Edo era being used to created high quality crockery for the leading family of the Hirado clan. This method of ceramic making came to be highly refined through the continuous efforts of craftspeople to meet the demands of the lord. This exhibition features works from the Edo and Meiji periods and the continuing heritage of the ceramic technique.
