Held four times annually, this exhibition introducing Japanese modern and contemporary art spotlights artists with ties to Yokosuka. Exhibition Room 4 presents work by Kanuemon Asai from the 1940s, a time when this Taura, Yokosuka-residing artist pursued both oil and Nihonga painting. Room 5 features a special exhibit of oil paintings and other works by Kyuzaburo Ito. Donated by his family, these pieces span his career, from the 1930s when he started out through his late works. In Rooms 6 and 7, viewers can enjoy some 20 unique and colorful recent works with familiar motifs by Miho Hirose. Finally, Exhibition Room 8 introduces work by the sound sculpture artist Kazuo Harada.
