Copyright for New Visual Expression - Lecture
This event has ended.
What relation does art and creativity have with law? Does law limit the possibilities of creativity? Placing the words expression and copyright alongside each other, we might expect a nod in this direction. Today photography, video and all forms of visual expression are increasingly facing problems of copyright and image rights and with the rise of the internet these areas have become even more blurred and complicated. In this day and age we are being brought to redefine the meaning and bounds of copyright and through this redefinition new possibilities of both creativity and business are being opened before us. This series of lectures is designed to introduce how copyright applies to the creative field, the essential rules which need to be made aware of and means of overcoming perceived restrictions.
Introducing the basics of copyright and image rights most necessary in the production and presentation of visual work, with an overview of established rules, drawing up contracts and information on previous incidents, along with an introduction to creative commons.
