Kanemura Osamu
These two videos, “Dead-Stick Landing” and “Dead Stock Companion,” both filmed and edited for this exhibition, have been a big challenge for Kanemura, who himself wondered what kind of space-time installation he would create. Kanemura has been taking photographs on black and white film since the early 90s, but recently started using digital cameras, taking a great number of videos and photographs. When he began using the digital camera, he remarked, “the digital movies and photos give me an impression of shallowness and instability, so maybe it is interesting to see them using monitors and projection.” The nature of digital photography intuitively felt by Kanemura perhaps provided the impetus to begin creating movies. In “Nothing was Delivered,” the city is dissected, cut off, and reproduced with noise. What was being delivered? Who was delivering it? Or, maybe there were nothing to be delivered at all.
