“Chinese Ethnic Costumes”

China has a diverse group of ethnic minorities, with a highly intricate application of embroidery, textile dyeing and weaving incorperated into the traditional clothing of their everyday. This exhibition introduces and array of costumes from various groups including the South West people of Miao, Yi, Yao and the Li people of the Hainan Island, as collected by textile expert Michiko Umeda and also accompanied by documents on traditional festivals, architecture and customs.
