“Forest Friend - 2. Playing Outdoors”

Atelier Muji Ginza
Finished
From ancient times, the forest has blessed us with many things; lumber for construction, firewood for heat, vegetables for local dishes, and animals to hunt. In other words, to live with nature was to live together with the forest. Modern lifestyles, however, have cut our direct link with the forest, and our experience of nature is mostly limited to writing and literature. As the second exhibit under the theme of “Forest Friend” Atelier Muji highlights the richness of the forest through outdoor play. Muji runs three campgrounds across Japan, all blessed with good forests, spanning 230,000 ㎡ of land. These campgrounds offer numerous seminars and courses that help participants to experience nature and sense its importance. With the cooperation of local instructors that live and work in these sites, Muji introduces several ways to have fun outdoors.
