11 new drawings from Katsura Funakoshi featuring pairs of female busts which continue to explore the theme of the “double image”, realized both in Funakoshi’s sculpture and 2D work. Each one of us is inhabited by a multitude of personalities, and the second pair of eyes which look out upon us are perhaps another self, or the fusion of the eyes of those around us. The drawing of Funakoshi is one of great delicacy but continuously succeeds in conjuring the shape and depth of 3D form, not as undersketches for his sculptural works, but as complete worlds in themselves.
