Presenting the first solo show in Japan for Miki Funaki, who wonders: When I paint on the canvas to preserve images that fade when I try to capture them, what appears? A mental image? Fragments of memories from an experience? Or, is it the image of something arising from neither the mind’s eye nor memory? To Funaki, what is important is portraying the feeling of the image as it comes to him rather than the actual shape of it.
