In this exhibition curated by Kohei Kobayashi the Brother’s Grimm story of “Clever Hans” is taken as a formula for the very structure of the show, which draws upon the successions of conversations and miscommunications between Hans, Gretel and his mother. Here it is not the case that Kobayashi selected all of the participating artists, rather he first recommended the first artist and art work, this artist then in turn recommended another artist and art work, and in this layered process the participants have come to light in a succession of dialogues, exchanges and increasing anticipation brought to a tension by the ever presence of failure.
