Ornamental Paper and Contemporary Calligraphy— Works From The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Collection

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
Finished
The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum has hosted annual exhibitions of its calligraphy collection since the museum’s post-renovation reopening in 2012, providing a stage on which the history of contemporary calligraphy can play out in shows organized by themes. The brush, ink stone, ink stick, and paper are the four key elements of calligraphy, and this exhibition focuses on last item, introducing calligraphy paper as well as “soshoku-ryoshi” ornamental papers featuring sketches and beautiful decorations.
